Gary Scott struggles with grief and mental illness. He yearns for an escape, for a way into the fantasy worlds that he loves.
But when he wakes to find himself in just such a world, he believes he has sunk into a psychosis and is trapped within his own delusions.

Befriended by a woman who is almost an exact image of his late wife, and haunted by nightmares of her, Gary sets out on a perilous journey to end the dream and break himself out of the fantasy.

However, the discovery of anachronistic technology suggests that other forces are involved. As reality and delusion blur into one, Gary begins to wonder the unthinkable - that all of this madness is real...
